Some people may have picked up on press reports of recently-published research into "neuro-babble".  This article in The Register is among the better summaries and also includes a link to the full article on the author's own website (the journal version is not open access) and to other relevant studies, including one that criticises the level of statistical significance in many fMRI-based studies.

The polemical statements in this article do themselves need to be treated with some caution. British gerontologist/philosopher/poet/etc Raymond Tallis is described as a "Marxist" which you would struggle to find any evidence for (see his website, for example, or his wikipedia entry), but the various studies cited (and linked to) are of interest.
