Professor Frank Granger (1864-1936) provided an "Appreciation" for the UK (Methuen) 1918 edition of Man's Supreme Inheritance[1]; the latter work also included a brief extract from an article by Granger in the Expositor. He is referred to as "Professor Frank Granger, D. Litt., M.A., London, Professor of Classics and Philosophy".
Staring records these contributions by Granger as having been quoted in a Dutton order form in 1919; and in a pamphlet along with other materials in 1928[2].
Granger was a significant enough figure in the public eye for his Appreciation to be cited on the title page of the Methuen editions of MSI in which his text appeared, receiving equal billing with John Dewey, Rev. J.H. Jowett and Horace Kallen.

Frank Stephen Granger (1864-1936) was born in Nottingham. From 1882 until 1885 he was employed in the office of architect Godwin (FSA) in London, and in 1886 became an associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects, taking his Master of Arts degree at London University in the same year. In 1887 he was appointed lecturer in Latin, Greek and Philosophy at Nottingham University College and, after receiving the degree of Doctor of Literature at London in 1892, became Professor of Classics and Philosophy in 1893. He resigned chair of Classics in 1935 but continued to lecture in philosophy from 1914 until his retirement in 1935 as Vice-Principal of the University. It was in this capacity that he played host to Albert Einstein during the latter's visit to Nottingham in June 1930.
Granger's varied interests are reflected in his published works, which include 'The Psychological Basis of Fine Art' (1887); 'Vitruvius' (1931-34); 'The Legal Status of Labour in the New Testament' (1933); and 'Longinus: a Treatise on the Sublime' (1935).
